Interview Preparation, Career Strategy, and Upcoming Events
Over the past month, much of my work has focused on helping clients prepare for upcoming interviews – whether stepping into senior medical roles, making a competitive move, or navigating tricky internal processes. I’ve also delivered education sessions to support medical students and doctors at various career stages in positioning themselves as standout candidates.
This work continues in the coming weeks with two webinars for Miga members on CVs and interview development, a session for doctors across South Australia, and visits to Hobart, Canberra, and the Albury-Wodonga region. I’m also running an additional mock interview mini-workshop on Saturday, June 7 (online).
This month’s article examines what interview panels look for in SMO interviews. It’s based on current client insights and panel member feedback, and is particularly relevant for senior clinicians wanting to step forward confidently and clearly.
Some doctors also engage with our 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month coaching programs. These are tailored to your goals – refining your CV and LinkedIn profile, planning your next career step, exploring non-clinical roles, or moving into leadership, administration, or executive-level positions. We also work together on strategic planning, communicating with new stakeholders, and navigating challenging professional situations.
And if you missed a webinar recently, you can always catch up via the Standout Medical Careers YouTube channel, where new recordings are regularly added.
Beyond Clinical Expertise: What SMO Interview Panels Are Really Looking For
Interview preparation has been front and centre this month. I’ve been working with doctors across the country to help them feel clear and confident heading into interviews—whether they’re applying for SMO roles, leadership positions or new opportunities in other specialties.
This article draws on those conversations and the insights shared by interview panel members to outline what panels are really looking for in senior-level interviews. It’s especially relevant for senior clinicians who want to communicate their value and experience with impact. Read the full article here.
